The Hocking Hills region provides a variety of recreational opportunities in a splendid natural setting.
Towering cliffs, waterfalls and deep hemlock-shaded gorges lure the hiker and naturalist. The natural history
of this region is as fascinating as the caves are beautiful. The state park lodge contains a seasonal restaurant,
meeting rooms, TV lounge, game room, snack bar and an outside (seasonal) swimming pool. There are miles of
trails located throughout the park and adjacent state forest. The trails are beautiful as well as potentially
dangerous: caution and common sense are advised. Young children should be closely supervised while in these areas.
All park visitors must remain on the trails at all times. Pets are allowed in state parks but must be kept on
a leash. Pets are not allowed in the state nature preserves.
Other outdoor activities to enjoy in the area are horseback riding, hunting, fishing, canoeing, golf,
rock-climbing, rappelling, ATV trails in Wayne National Forest, bicycling and birding or just plain sightseeing
while driving around the hills. For the shopper there are plenty of fun and unique shops including antique
malls, craft shops and local artisans’ shops. You’ll find dining from fast food to elegant gourmet in and
around the hills.
The roads in the Hocking Hills area are winding, curvy, steep and wind through the Hocking Hills State
Forest. Our cabins are conveniently located near all the parks in the region, all within a short scenic
drive. Routes 664 and 374 are the main routes going through the parks area. These routes were recently
designated
Ohio Scenic Byways.
